Basic Bookbinding Mini-Workshops

Bookbinding can be a long and complicated process - but it doesn't have to be! In this series of evening workshops, Rebecca will teach a variety of bookbinding techniques that are simple to learn but have tons of potential for experimentation and creativity.

October 25 - Accordions: this no-sew book form is perfect for a bookbinding newbie or an experienced bookbinder. We'll learn the basic construction and explore ways of designing 2D and 3D (pop up!) content for our books.

November 1 - Japanese Stab: four hole Japanese binding is one of the most ancient bookbinding techniques there is, and it's super easy to learn! Once we master the basic technique, we'll explore ways to design more complicated and creative exposed binding patterns.

November 8 - Longstitch: Though it looks complicated, this beautiful style with exposed stitching on the spine can be mastered in no time. We'll create a cloth-bound blank book with a tie closure, perfect for an on-the-go journal.

You may attend one class or all three.  Classes are $40 each or $110 for all 3. All materials will be provided.

Classes are held on three consecutive Wednesday nights, 10/25, 11/1, and 11/8, from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at Blackbird Letterpress, 1607 S.Main St Baton Rouge and are taught by Blackbird printer and designer Rebecca.

Space is limited. Sign up here to reserve your space.
